§ 36.06. COURT CLERK; APPOINTMENT; DUTIES.

  • The City Manager is authorized and directed to appoint a municipal court clerk and may appoint 1 or more deputy municipal court clerks. In the absence of the municipal court clerk, a deputy municipal court clerk shall perform the duties of the municipal court clerk. The municipal court clerk shall keep the records of the Municipal Court of Record, shall issue process, and shall generally perform the duties that a clerk of a County Court-at-Law exercising criminal jurisdiction performs for that court. The municipal court clerk shall maintain an index of all court judgments in the same manner as county clerks are required by law to prepare for criminal cases arising in county courts. The municipal court clerk and other court personnel shall perform their duties under the direction and control of the Judge of the Municipal Court of Record.
